Crowns and bridges in Rancho Cucamonga
Rebuild a broken tooth.
Or fill the gap one left.
Two different jobs, often confused. A crown covers and holds together a tooth you still have. A bridge replaces a tooth you have lost, using the teeth either side to support it. We will tell you which one your situation actually calls for.
- Digital scanning — no putty trays
- Porcelain matched to your own teeth

Crown or bridge?
One covers a tooth.
The other replaces one.
It is worth being clear, because the words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing. A crown fits over a tooth that is still in your mouth but too damaged or heavily filled to be trusted on its own — it holds the remaining tooth together. A bridge fills a space where a tooth is already gone, by joining a replacement to the teeth on either side. Different problems, different treatments, different costs.

When these come up
Reasons people
end up here.
Some of these are urgent, some have been building for years.
Not sure whether yours needs a filling, a crown or something else? That is genuinely difficult to judge yourself, and getting it wrong in either direction costs money. An assessment answers it.
Options & suitability
Bridge or implant
for a missing tooth?
If a tooth is already gone, a bridge is not your only option, and the right answer depends on the teeth around the gap.
A bridge is usually quicker and does not involve surgery. The trade-off is that the teeth on either side have to be prepared to carry it — which is a reasonable trade if those teeth already need crowns, and a bigger one if they are healthy and untouched.
An implant replaces the tooth on its own without involving the neighbours, but it takes longer, involves surgery and needs enough bone to support it. See implants and tooth replacement.
We will lay out both for your situation rather than defaulting to one.
All general dentistryHonest limitations
- Preparing a tooth for a crown is irreversible.
- Crowns and bridges do not last forever and may need replacing.
- A bridge means preparing the teeth either side, healthy or not.
- Decay can still start at the margin, so cleaning around them matters.
- Not every cracked tooth can be saved with a crown.

What to expect
Usually two visits.
Sometimes more.
- 01
Assessment and planning
We examine the tooth, take imaging where it helps, and establish whether a crown, a bridge or something simpler is the right answer. You get the cost before anything is prepared.
- 02
Preparation and digital scan
The tooth is shaped to take the crown, then scanned with the iTero scanner rather than putty impressions. A temporary is usually placed while the permanent one is made.
- 03
Fitting
The crown or bridge is tried in, checked for fit, bite and shade, adjusted where needed, then cemented. We check how it feels before you leave.
Before you book
Crown and bridge
questions.
How much does a dental crown cost?
It depends on the material and the tooth, and whether anything needs doing first — a crown after root canal treatment is two separate costs. Crowns are often covered in part by dental insurance, though that varies by plan. Call (909) 852-6787 with your details and we will check what applies.
What is the difference between a crown and a bridge?
A crown covers a tooth you still have, to hold it together and protect it. A bridge replaces a tooth you have lost, by joining a false tooth to crowns on the teeth either side. If the tooth is still there, you are looking at a crown; if it is gone, a bridge or an implant.
Do you offer same-day crowns?
We have not listed same-day crowns as a service, so please ask the team what the current process and timescale is rather than assuming. What we can tell you is that impressions are taken with a digital scanner rather than putty trays.
Can any cracked tooth be crowned?
No. It depends where the crack runs. A crack confined to the visible part of the tooth can often be covered and protected; one extending below the gum or into the root may mean the tooth cannot be saved. Imaging and examination are what tell us which you have.
How long do crowns last?
There is no fixed lifespan, and it depends on the tooth, your bite, whether you grind and how well you clean around the margin. They are replaceable rather than permanent — expect to need attention at some point rather than assuming otherwise.
Will it match my other teeth?
Porcelain is shade-matched against the teeth beside it. A very good match on a back tooth is routine; matching a single front crown against natural neighbours is the harder job, and we will be straight with you about what is achievable.
Is getting a crown uncomfortable?
Preparation is carried out under anesthetic. Some sensitivity while a temporary is in place is common and usually settles once the permanent crown is fitted. Tell us if you are anxious about the appointment.
Should I get a bridge or an implant?
It depends mostly on the teeth either side of the gap. If they already need crowns, a bridge makes good sense. If they are healthy and untouched, an implant avoids preparing them. We will explain both for your specific situation.
Cost & payment
What does
a crown cost?
It varies with the material, the tooth and whether anything needs treating first. Where a crown follows root canal treatment, those are two separate costs and we will set both out so neither is a surprise.
We are a PPO provider for many dental plans and we accept children’s Medicaid. Coverage differs plan by plan, so give the team your details and they will check before you book rather than guessing. Crowns are often covered in part, though it depends on your plan. CareCredit is available if you would rather spread a larger treatment plan.
