Night guards and sleep appliances in Rancho Cucamonga
Two different problems.
Two different appliances.
A guard that protects your teeth from grinding is not the same thing as an appliance prescribed for sleep apnea — they do different jobs and they are arrived at in different ways. This page covers both, and where each one fits.
- Custom-made from a scan of your teeth
- Sleep apnea needs a medical diagnosis first
Waking up with a sore jaw, or been told you snore? Tell us which and we’ll point you the right way.

Getting the right one
A grinding guard doesn’t
treat sleep apnea.
This is the single most important thing on this page. A night guard protects teeth from the forces of clenching and grinding. It is not a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, and wearing one will not address a breathing problem during sleep. Appliances used for sleep apnea work differently — they reposition the jaw to help keep the airway open — and they are appropriate only after a medical diagnosis, with a physician involved. If you snore heavily, stop breathing in your sleep, or wake unrefreshed, that is a medical conversation first.

My family and I absolutely love this office! The service is wonderful, and the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. I’ve never felt as comfortable going to the dentist as I do here. They truly take the time to get to know you and make sure you feel comfortable throughout your visit, especially when you need extensive or time-consuming work, like I did. I really appreciate their patience, care, and attention to detail. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a dentist who genuinely cares about their patients!Posted on Google![]()

I really owe this review to Dr Moqattash and his staff. I usually do not have time to write reviews, but this time I needed to take the time to write it. The care itself is top‑notch, but what really sets them apart is the atmosphere they create. They explain everything clearly, make sure you’re comfortable, and somehow turn something most people dread into a positive experience. We had such a wonderful experience. The entire team (Lorena, Simone and I can't recall the name of the other two beautiful ladies helping Dr Moqattash, so sorry) is incredibly friendly, patient, and caring. They made my children (ages 11, 12 &15) feel completely comfortable from the moment we walked in. The staff went above and beyond to explain everything and make the visit fun and stress-free. It’s clear they truly care about their young patients. Highly recommend to any parent looking for an exceptional pediatric dental experience. Dr Moqattash is very personal and remembered who I was from my last visit. He is thoughtful and considerate as to any pain or discomfort me or my kids might feel. My children love him and he is the only dentist they want to keep going. If you’re looking for a dental office where you feel cared for, respected, and truly welcomed, this is the place. I can’t recommend them enough.Posted on Google![]()

I always have the best treatment here. The hygienist and doctor are great and all the staff as well!
Let’s talk about your grinding or snoring.
Tell us what you’ve noticed. Our team can check availability and explain whether an appliance could help.
What brings people in
Grinding, clenching
and worn teeth.
This section is about protecting teeth. Sleep-disordered breathing is dealt with separately below.
A night guard protects teeth. It does not stop you grinding. Grinding has several possible causes — stress, medications, and sleep disorders among them — so a guard manages the damage rather than curing the habit. That is worth knowing before you buy one anywhere.
Options & suitability
Snoring and
sleep apnea.
This part needs care, because a lot of advertising blurs it.
Snoring is not always harmless. Obstructive sleep apnea, where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, is a medical condition with health consequences. It is diagnosed by a physician, usually with a sleep study — not by a dentist, and not from symptoms alone.
Oral appliance therapy is one recognized treatment for appropriate cases, typically mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, or for people who cannot tolerate CPAP. These appliances are custom-made and adjusted, and they work alongside medical care rather than replacing it.
Do not stop using CPAP on your own. If it is not working for you, that is a conversation with the physician who prescribed it. An oral appliance is not automatically a substitute, and it is not right for everyone.
Talk to us about what we can and cannot do here, and we will be straight with you about where a physician needs to be involved.
All general dentistryWorth being clear about
- A grinding guard is not a sleep apnea treatment.
- Sleep apnea is diagnosed medically, not by a dental exam.
- Oral appliance therapy suits some cases, not all.
- Never stop CPAP without talking to your physician.
- Custom appliances are adjusted over time, not fitted once and forgotten.

Grinding rarely shows up on its own.
What to expect
Assessment, scan,
then fit and review.
- 01
Assessment
We look at how your teeth are wearing, ask about your jaw, your sleep and what you have noticed, and establish which of the two conversations you are actually in.
- 02
A digital scan
If a custom guard is appropriate, your teeth are scanned rather than impressed with putty, and the appliance is made to fit them.
- 03
Fit and adjust
The appliance is fitted and checked against your bite. Custom appliances usually need adjusting, and for sleep-related devices that is an ongoing process, not a single appointment.
- 04
Review
We check how you are getting on, how the appliance is wearing, and whether anything has changed. Where a physician is involved in your sleep care, that follow-up matters too.
Before you book
Night guard and
appliance questions.
How much does a custom night guard cost?
It depends on the type of appliance and what the assessment finds. Coverage differs a great deal between plans, so give the team your details and they will check. Call (909) 852-6787 and ask.
Is a custom guard better than a drugstore one?
A custom guard is made to fit your teeth from a scan, so it seats properly and distributes force more evenly. Boil-and-bite guards are a lower-cost option but fit more loosely, can be bulky, and some people find they change how the teeth meet. We will talk through what suits your situation.
Will a night guard stop me grinding?
No, and that is an important distinction. It protects your teeth from the forces involved, but it does not cure the habit. Grinding can have several underlying causes, including stress, certain medications and sleep disorders, which is why the assessment asks about more than your teeth.
Can a night guard treat my sleep apnea?
No. A guard made to protect teeth from grinding does not treat obstructive sleep apnea. Appliances used for sleep apnea are a different design, work by repositioning the jaw, and are appropriate only after a medical diagnosis with a physician involved.
I snore. Do I need a sleep study?
That is a question for your physician, and it is the right place to start. Snoring can be harmless, but it can also be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea, which is diagnosed medically — usually with a sleep study — rather than in a dental chair.
Can I stop using my CPAP if I get an oral appliance?
Do not make that change on your own. If CPAP is not working for you, speak to the physician who prescribed it. Oral appliance therapy suits some people and some severities, but it is not an automatic replacement, and the decision is a medical one.
How long does an appliance last?
It depends on the type and how heavily you grind. They wear, and heavy grinders go through them faster. We check the condition at your regular visits and will tell you when one needs replacing rather than waiting for it to fail.
What appliances do you actually provide here?
Ask us directly and we will tell you exactly what we offer and what we would refer, rather than you having to guess from a web page. That is a fair question and it deserves a specific answer.
Cost & payment
What does
it cost?
It depends which appliance is appropriate, which the assessment establishes. Coverage for guards and for sleep-related appliances differs a lot between plans — and sleep appliances sometimes fall under medical rather than dental benefits.
We are a PPO provider for many dental plans and we accept children’s Medicaid. Coverage differs plan by plan, so give the team your details and they will check before you book rather than guessing. CareCredit is available if you would rather spread a larger treatment plan.
Payment & CareCredit informationBefore you commit
- Costs explained after the assessment, before anything is made.
- Coverage checked with your plan rather than assumed.
- Sleep-related appliances may involve medical, not dental, benefits.
- CareCredit available for larger plans.

I have been coming here the past two years. First, Lorena is an amazing liaison with your insurance and will do all she can to help you with receiving services. Every single staff member of this establishment is KIND and PATIENT. I love that each of their personalities are all positive and uplifting. Which brings me to Simone, the dental hygienist who is knowledgable, thorough in her work, and compassionate. My mom enjoys going to Simone, which says a lot for someone who in the past dreaded going to get a cleaning. Lastly, Dr. Alex is not a pushy salesman type of dentist. He will give you his recommendations and rationale. Truly, he is a nice man who has provided me, my mother and my 2 year old will excellent care. He has taken the time and initiative to provide up to date, nontoxic techniques in his dental office. This office has been a blessing for my family and I.Posted on Yelp![]()

I had gone to another dentist close by and they quoted me a pretty high price, 8400.00 out of pocket, I decided to get a second opinion and came to Finesse dental in Rancho, the office manager I spoke to, her name is Lorena, she is very professional and very friendly, gave me great advice insurance wise, I ended up paying less than half of what the other dentist was going to charge, what I noticed right away is they have the latest in technology as far as equipment and dental software, very impressive, Dr. Moqattash is very professional, friendly and patient with his patients, also he is very good at what he does, his staff give out a great vibe, I am super happy that I decided to come here, the dental hygienist was also very professional and friendly and gave me lots of great advice on how to care for my teeth. I give this office a 10 out of 10.Posted on Yelp![]()

I don't even know what to say. As someone that was traumatized as a child from the dentist. When I found out my child(3yr) had a cavity I was highly anxious. After doing hours of research on the fillings it left me even more anxious knowing my kid had to fast be sedated and injected for a cavity. When loosing hope I found a post on laser fillings for cavities, which is non invasive. I quickly came On yelp to find my nearest option and I came across this dentistry. If we were informed that such technology exists less children would be traumatized. The staff here is beyond amazing and helpful. My kid is 3 years old and did amazing. Thanks to this option. We were done unless then an hour and ready to go eat after this. 100/10 recommend. They take all insurances I have medical and only had to pay a small fee out of pocket+1Posted on Yelp![]()

I would like to take a minute to thank Dr. Alexander for the exceptional work and customer service he provided my dear Mom. She is 82 years old and has never had any dental work done in her life. She has beautiful teeth. But, she recently found a cracked tooth that desperately needed attention. So, he found that she actually needed two root canals on two of her wisdom teeth which went very smoothly. I had hoped that it would not be painful for her, but she did wonderful throughout the entire procedure. Alexander was very professional, knowledgeable, confident, gentle, and kind! He was very accomodating to Mom--I was very pleased with him. The entire staff is quite cohesive with how they work together as a team. Lorena was exceptional--very nice and personable and the other two assistants were equally impressive. The office is classy and serene and peaceful with its fountain in the center of all the work stations. The music was very relaxing. Over all, it was a very nice and pleasant experience while waiting for my dear Mom. :)Posted on Yelp![]()
