Root canal treatment in Rancho Cucamonga
Save the tooth.
End the pain it’s causing.
When infection reaches the nerve inside a tooth, root canal treatment clears it out and keeps the tooth you already have. It has a worse reputation than it deserves — it is done under anesthetic, and most people describe the appointment as relief rather than pain.
- 3D imaging of the roots before we start
- Assessment first — symptoms alone don’t diagnose

The question everyone asks
Do I actually
need a root canal?
Honestly, symptoms alone cannot answer that. Lingering sensitivity to heat, pain when biting, a tooth that aches at night, swelling or a darkening tooth can all point toward the nerve — but so can a cracked filling, gum problems or a tooth that is simply bruised. What settles it is an examination and imaging. If the tooth does not need treatment, you will hear that, and if something simpler would fix it we will tell you that too.

My family and I absolutely love this office! The service is wonderful, and the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. I’ve never felt as comfortable going to the dentist as I do here. They truly take the time to get to know you and make sure you feel comfortable throughout your visit, especially when you need extensive or time-consuming work, like I did. I really appreciate their patience, care, and attention to detail. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a dentist who genuinely cares about their patients!Posted on Google![]()

I really owe this review to Dr Moqattash and his staff. I usually do not have time to write reviews, but this time I needed to take the time to write it. The care itself is top‑notch, but what really sets them apart is the atmosphere they create. They explain everything clearly, make sure you’re comfortable, and somehow turn something most people dread into a positive experience. We had such a wonderful experience. The entire team (Lorena, Simone and I can't recall the name of the other two beautiful ladies helping Dr Moqattash, so sorry) is incredibly friendly, patient, and caring. They made my children (ages 11, 12 &15) feel completely comfortable from the moment we walked in. The staff went above and beyond to explain everything and make the visit fun and stress-free. It’s clear they truly care about their young patients. Highly recommend to any parent looking for an exceptional pediatric dental experience. Dr Moqattash is very personal and remembered who I was from my last visit. He is thoughtful and considerate as to any pain or discomfort me or my kids might feel. My children love him and he is the only dentist they want to keep going. If you’re looking for a dental office where you feel cared for, respected, and truly welcomed, this is the place. I can’t recommend them enough.Posted on Google![]()

I always have the best treatment here. The hygienist and doctor are great and all the staff as well!
Let’s talk about your tooth.
Tell us what’s happening. Our team can help you check appointment availability and understand the next step.
What brings people in
Signs worth
getting looked at.
None of these prove you need root canal treatment. All of them are worth an assessment.
Swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, or that is spreading to your eye or neck, is a medical emergency — go to an emergency room or call 911. For dental pain and localized swelling, call us or see the emergency dental page.
Options & suitability
Save the tooth,
or take it out?
This is the real decision, and it deserves more than a default answer.
Keeping your own tooth is usually worth it. Natural teeth hold their position, keep the bone around them working, and need no replacement. Root canal treatment exists to make that possible when the nerve is beyond saving.
Sometimes extraction is the better call. If the tooth is fractured below the gum, if too little tooth structure remains to restore, or if the supporting bone is badly affected, treating it may not give you a tooth that lasts. We would rather say that than treat something twice.
If a tooth does come out, replacing it is a separate conversation — see implants and tooth replacement.
All general dentistryWorth understanding
- A treated tooth usually needs a crown afterwards to protect it.
- Treatment is often carried out over more than one appointment.
- Some cases are better handled by an endodontic specialist — we refer where appropriate.
- A treated tooth can still fail later, though many last for years.
- Antibiotics alone do not resolve an infected nerve.
Related treatments
What often
comes with it.
Root canal treatment rarely stands entirely on its own.
What to expect
Assessment, treatment,
then the restoration.
- 01
Assessment and imaging
An examination plus digital and cone-beam 3D imaging, so the root anatomy is understood before anything starts. This is also where we establish whether you need treatment at all.
- 02
The treatment itself
Carried out under anesthetic. The infected tissue inside the canals is removed, the space is cleaned and shaped, then sealed. How many appointments this takes depends on the tooth and what we find.
- 03
Protecting the tooth afterwards
A tooth that has had root canal treatment is more brittle, particularly a back tooth doing heavy chewing. A crown or other restoration is usually recommended to protect it. We will explain what yours needs.
Before you book
Root canal questions,
answered straight.
How much does a root canal cost?
It depends on which tooth — front teeth have fewer canals than molars — and on whether a crown is needed afterwards, which is a separate cost worth asking about upfront. Root canal treatment is often covered in part by dental insurance, but that varies by plan. Call (909) 852-6787 with your plan details and we will check.
Does a root canal hurt?
It is done under anesthetic, and most people find the appointment far less unpleasant than they expected — often it relieves pain that was already there. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal. If you are anxious, say so when you book so we can plan the appointment around that.
How do I know if I need one?
You cannot know from symptoms alone, and neither can we without looking. Lingering hot or cold sensitivity, pain on biting, night pain, a darkening tooth or gum swelling are all worth assessing — but each has other possible causes. An exam and imaging is what settles it.
Will I need a crown afterwards?
Usually, particularly on back teeth. Removing the nerve and cleaning the canals leaves the tooth more brittle, and a crown holds it together. We will tell you what your specific tooth needs, and what it costs, before you commit.
How many appointments does it take?
It depends on the tooth, the number of canals and what we find once we are in. Some cases are completed in one visit; others are better done across two. We will give you a realistic expectation after the assessment rather than before it.
Is it better to just pull the tooth?
Sometimes, but not usually. Keeping your own tooth avoids the cost and complexity of replacing it later. Extraction makes more sense when the tooth is fractured below the gum line, badly broken down, or when the supporting bone is too affected. We will give you a straight recommendation.
Can antibiotics fix it instead?
No. Antibiotics can reduce a spreading infection or swelling temporarily, but they cannot reach infected tissue inside the tooth, and the problem returns once the course finishes. The source has to be treated.
Do you refer some cases to a specialist?
Yes. Complex root anatomy, retreatment of a previously treated tooth and some difficult cases are better handled by an endodontist. Where that applies we will say so rather than attempting it.
Cost & payment
What does
it cost?
Mostly a question of which tooth, and whether a crown is needed afterwards. We will explain both before treatment starts, so the crown is not a surprise later.
We are a PPO provider for many dental plans and we accept children’s Medicaid. Coverage differs plan by plan, so give the team your details and they will check before you book rather than guessing. Root canal treatment is often covered in part, though that depends entirely on your plan. CareCredit is available if you would rather spread a larger treatment plan.
Payment & CareCredit informationNo surprises
- Costs explained before treatment begins.
- The crown, if one is needed, is priced separately — ask upfront.
- Many PPO plans accepted; coverage checked before you book.
- CareCredit available for larger plans.

I have been coming here the past two years. First, Lorena is an amazing liaison with your insurance and will do all she can to help you with receiving services. Every single staff member of this establishment is KIND and PATIENT. I love that each of their personalities are all positive and uplifting. Which brings me to Simone, the dental hygienist who is knowledgable, thorough in her work, and compassionate. My mom enjoys going to Simone, which says a lot for someone who in the past dreaded going to get a cleaning. Lastly, Dr. Alex is not a pushy salesman type of dentist. He will give you his recommendations and rationale. Truly, he is a nice man who has provided me, my mother and my 2 year old will excellent care. He has taken the time and initiative to provide up to date, nontoxic techniques in his dental office. This office has been a blessing for my family and I.Posted on Yelp![]()

I had gone to another dentist close by and they quoted me a pretty high price, 8400.00 out of pocket, I decided to get a second opinion and came to Finesse dental in Rancho, the office manager I spoke to, her name is Lorena, she is very professional and very friendly, gave me great advice insurance wise, I ended up paying less than half of what the other dentist was going to charge, what I noticed right away is they have the latest in technology as far as equipment and dental software, very impressive, Dr. Moqattash is very professional, friendly and patient with his patients, also he is very good at what he does, his staff give out a great vibe, I am super happy that I decided to come here, the dental hygienist was also very professional and friendly and gave me lots of great advice on how to care for my teeth. I give this office a 10 out of 10.Posted on Yelp![]()

I don't even know what to say. As someone that was traumatized as a child from the dentist. When I found out my child(3yr) had a cavity I was highly anxious. After doing hours of research on the fillings it left me even more anxious knowing my kid had to fast be sedated and injected for a cavity. When loosing hope I found a post on laser fillings for cavities, which is non invasive. I quickly came On yelp to find my nearest option and I came across this dentistry. If we were informed that such technology exists less children would be traumatized. The staff here is beyond amazing and helpful. My kid is 3 years old and did amazing. Thanks to this option. We were done unless then an hour and ready to go eat after this. 100/10 recommend. They take all insurances I have medical and only had to pay a small fee out of pocket+1Posted on Yelp![]()

I would like to take a minute to thank Dr. Alexander for the exceptional work and customer service he provided my dear Mom. She is 82 years old and has never had any dental work done in her life. She has beautiful teeth. But, she recently found a cracked tooth that desperately needed attention. So, he found that she actually needed two root canals on two of her wisdom teeth which went very smoothly. I had hoped that it would not be painful for her, but she did wonderful throughout the entire procedure. Alexander was very professional, knowledgeable, confident, gentle, and kind! He was very accomodating to Mom--I was very pleased with him. The entire staff is quite cohesive with how they work together as a team. Lorena was exceptional--very nice and personable and the other two assistants were equally impressive. The office is classy and serene and peaceful with its fountain in the center of all the work stations. The music was very relaxing. Over all, it was a very nice and pleasant experience while waiting for my dear Mom. :)Posted on Yelp![]()
